Some heritage houses are best suited with bold colours. Some are best suited to be understated. This beautiful corner situated heritage home in East Vancouver was the perfect house to underplay colour. Easily, the most noticeable feature of the house is the beautiful big windows.
Beyond finding the perfect colours, this old house also needed a fair amount of wood replacement. Warline’s in-house carpentry team was onsite after power washing was complete to get the house ready for paint.
For this house, Warline used all Cloverdale Paint products and colours from the Artisan colour palette. The new Artisan colours were ideal for this simply but stunning heritage home.
The trim was painted in a satin finish using the Cloverdale Paint colour Birch Bark (CA-010). The windows were painted in semi-gloss finish in the Cloverdale Paint colour Autumn Maple (CA-228) and the siding was done in Cloverdale Paint Stone (CA-080) in a flat finish. The siding colour is a very close match to Benjamin Moore Sandy Hook Gray (HC-108).
Finally, the doors were painted in a custom tinted colour one shade darker than the siding to keep the focus on the windows and the architectural structure of the home.
One of our favourite features of this home was the rain water collection system. The house has four large water barrels to collect rain water and they were conveniently painted to match the siding so they blended into the house.
A Clear Crisp Vancouver Day
Our photographer, Ina, didn’t get to photograph the house until the early winter. The night before she took pictures a soft snowfall has dusted the city. As a result, the photos of this beautiful heritage home, are even prettier.
This heritage house is now ready to weather our climate for many more years to come.
